What is Sitemap ?

A sitemap is a list of URLs of a website that helps search engines to crawl your site and index them.It's an excellent way to tell search engines that you've updated your blog.It helps the search engine bots to discover all pages of your site.

How to submit Sitemap to Bing Webmaster Tools ?

If you are new to Bing Webmaster Tools,here are some information for you.Bing webmaster tools service is free by Microsoft that allows them to submit their site on Bing.It also offers sitemap creation,ping and web submission tools,site statistics and keyword research tool etc.

Before submitting sitemap to Bing webmaster tools,you will have to create a sitemap for your blog first.If you haven't created your blog's sitemap yet so visit xml-sitemaps.It is very easy.

Once you have created a sitemap,go to Bing Webmaster Tools.You can either use your existing MSN/HOTMAIL account or create a new one.

After logging to your account,add your site URL click on "ADD"

On the next page,you've to enter your sitemap URL.Most of these cases your sitemap URL will be like http://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml

Then it will ask you to verify your site ownership.If offers 3 options to verify your site ownership.

• Place an XML file on your web server

• Copy and paste a <meta> tag in your default web page.

• Add CNAME record to your DNS.

I found that adding meta tag is the easiest one.All you need is to copy the tag and paste it in to your head section of your template.Now save changes and you are done ! Your site will be indexed soon.
